Take your gixxer intake system to the next level with the MP Performance 7 mm Airbox Spacer — to optimize airbox volume and high-speed intake efficiency. Developed and tested in-house at MP Performance, this spacer increases the airbox chamber height by 7 mm (measured +12 mm effective internal volume after installation) for improved throttle response and mid-range pull without compromising fitment or reliability.

Technical Highlights

  • Application: Suzuki GSX-R1000 / GSX-R1000R (2017–2025).
  • Material: High-temperature-resistant lightweight polymer carbon composite.
  • Weight: 70 g.
  • Thickness: 7 mm (effective 500cc air volume increase inside the airbox).
  • Design: 1:1 OEM fit — works with stock airbox top/bottom and factory air filter or MWR, BMC, DNA, etc.
  • Dyno Tested: Verified stable AFR and consistent torque curve on Dyno at 100–120 km/h simulated airspeed.
  • Real-World Test: Riders report smoother midrange transition, stronger torque & better throttle crispness above 7,000 rpm.
  • Compatibility: OEM and race air filters; no modification required.

Performance & Ram-Air Effect

At low racing speeds (100–120 km/h), airflow through the GSX-R1000’s twin ram-air tubes doesn’t yet reach full pressure potential. However, above ~160–180 km/h, real ram-air effect begins to pressurize the airbox (+5–7 mbar typical). With the added 500cc airbox volume, the system can hold ~4–5 % more air capacity, slightly delaying pressure equalization — this results in a smoother torque rise and improved power delivery in the 9,000–13,000 rpm range during high-speed acceleration.

In theory, the additional air volume aids:

  • Torque stability at mid-RPMs (7 000–10 000 rpm).
  • 2 HP gains at high speed (170–320 km/h range) when ram-air effect is active.
  • 3 HP gains with modified cylinder head.
  • Cooler intake charge through slightly lower airbox pressure fluctuation.

Development & Testing

Developed by MP Performance (Dubai) through multiple Dyno runs and on-road testing with professional riders. The spacer was designed to maximize the efficiency of MWR race filters and MWR velocity stacks, maintaining full sealing integrity and OEM alignment.
